Golf Marathon FAQ's
The Children At Heart Golf Marathon is a fundraising event in which participants are encouraged to raise at least $500 in donations and play 100 holes of golf in a single day. Thanks to our generous underwriters, 100% of Golf Marathon donations go toward children and families you help us serve at Gracewood, Miracle Farm, STARRY, and TBCH.
Marathoners tee off at 7 a.m. on the day of the event. Most Marathoners complete 9-12 holes of golf per hour. Play stops when it is too dark to see, but most finish 100 holes within 8-10 hours.
This year we are using an entirely new system, so you will need to create a new log-in either by using your email address or linking to your Facebook page. If you have questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
No. We encourage participants to raise $500, but it is not required.

The Appreciation Breakfast will be at 6 am and awards will be presented during this time. The breakfast will take place in the Star Ranch Clubhouse.
Marathoners are paired in three groups of two, and start at their assigned hole after a 7 am shotgun start. The goal is to safely play as many holes as possible in the shortest amount of time. Some will play faster than others, so we encourage those Marathoners to courteously play through.

To help your donors see that you are truly committed and to set appropriate giving levels, we encourage all Marathoners to make a personal donation. In fact, it’s a great way to begin the process!
Up to 72 Golf Marathoners will participate in 36 pairings. (3) Marathoner pairings will travel together in (3) carts.
Yes. However, the Children At Heart Golf Marathon is a fundraising event and its purpose is to raise money to help children and families in crisis. We encourage all of our Marathoners to raise a minimum of $500.
We understand that life circumstances change, and some years a golfer may need to sit out. You are welcome to continue to raise support that will make a difference in the lives of children and families served by CAHM!
No, we have included a registration fee in some prior years, but this year we are not charging a fee.
You must be in the top 5 of your division on April 20. The top 5 fundraisers in each division will have a chance to pick their award in sequential order. For a list of the awards, visit the Events and Awards page. Only 1 of each award will be available per division.

Yes. It is part of your Golf Marathon registration and it’s a simple process. This is the webpage you will direct your supporters to for donations. It will track each of your supporters and their personal contact information. You can send a link from your personal fundraising page in your emails to potential supporters.
Be sure to check the Marathon Page to see where your efforts stack up against others in your division. Top fundraisers will be awarded at our Appreciation Breakfast held on the morning of the Golf Marathon.
All donations are due by April 20, 2017 at noon in order to be eligible for our top marathoner awards.
No. CAHM will process all donations through the mail or online submissions. You don’t have to do a thing other than soliciting to get as many donations as possible.

Please do not send cash.Credit card donations are preferred online and can be made via your personal fundraising webpage. Please allow up to one week to process checks received by mail.
Please mail the check to the address above. Also, be sure to include your name on the memo line so that we may appropriately apply the donation to the correct Marathoner. If the supporter made the check out to you, please sign the check over to the Children At Heart Foundation prior to mailing it in by writing “Pay to the order of Children At Heart Foundation” in the endorsement area on the back of the check, along with your signature.
We’re making every effort to streamline the Golf Marathon in order to assure the best use of all gifts and resources. One change that’s part of our new system is that we’ll no longer accept pledges on the online portal. All online support will require donors to enter their credit card information and make the gift at the time, rather than making a pledge, which requires significant additional and costly processing by our office. Online gifts will be receipted immediately, and the donor will receive their gift receipt by email immediately. Those donors wishing to make a pledge, to be paid at a later time, will be required to use a pledge card or form, which will be available from marathoners or by download from the giving page.
All monetary donations are 100% tax-deductible, to the full extent allowed under IRS regulations. Anyone who donates online, regardless of the amount, will receive a receipt if they provide a valid email address. For those who donate online, the receipt is generated immediately after the donation is made and supporters can print the receipt for tax purposes or personal records. For those who mail a donation and provide a valid mailing address, the receipt is generated once the donation has been processed and mailed to the supporter.
Many companies match personal donations made by their employees. Check with the specific company for more information on their matching gift program or visit the Matching Gift Data website. In order to apply for a matching gift, your supporter will need to follow the process required by the company. Your supporter is responsible for submitting any forms required by the employer to count the matching gift toward your fundraising total. Your fundraising totals are automatically updated when you receive an online donation. Your fundraising page is manually updated by Children At Heart staff when check donations are received on your behalf. For additional questions or help on updating your personal fundraising page, please contact email@example.com.

On his or her personal fundraising page, select the green “Donate” button and finalize your donation. An electronic receipt will be emailed to you once you finalize your donation for your personal records.
When anyone makes a credit card gift online, we never receive the entire number. That information is protected by our online donation system, using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software which encrypts the information. We are provided only the last four digits of the credit card number.
We are really excited about our upgraded online donation system and event page software. Unfortunately, there is no direct link from the previous system to the new one. We have a full database of your contacts from last year, and prior year information can be provided. If you participated last year, we will send your contact list soon after you register.
